Blade Armor is a general-purpose counter against Marksmen and other heroes that rely to deal damage.
However, for heroes who deal Magic Damage with their such as or , Radiant Armor may be preferable because it provides Magic Defense and reduction against continuous Magic Damage, while Blade Armor does not.
Blade Armor can also be used to partially counter Physical Lifesteal from and Magic Lifesteal from such as those from and . Due to the high Physical Defense this item provides, the Physical Damage is lowered thus resulting in a Physical Lifesteal much lower than initially intended. Additionally, the reflect damage from Bladed Armor would continuously harm their HP each time they use a , preventing them from healing as much as they should or even completely not regenerating from the Lifesteal at all.
With the help of Life Drain from Sea Halberd and Glowing Wand or Artic Cold of Dominance Ice, a dependent hero's sustainability can be snuffed out, as explained from the example below:
- A HP, 30% Physical Lifesteal and 62 Physical Defense will be doing 7 with each dealing 700 Physical Damage to a with 2500 HP and 105 Physical Defense wearing a Blade Armor, where each triggering of Bladed Armor will be reflecting 175 Physical Damage back to the attacker. After the Physical Damage reduction calculations with its decimals rounded-down and only first two significant decimal figures taken in, each of 's will be dealing 371 Physical Damage and healing for 111 HP. Meanwhile, will be reflecting back 114 Physical Damage. Successfully dealing a sum of 21 Physical Damage from the 7 reflected by Bladed Armor. with 4463
- Despite being able to fully stop HP, the Blade Armor is still unable to lay a meaningful dent on the attacker's HP. However, if the were to wield a Sea Halberd and by applying the same calcuations, will instead be healed with 111 HP as Life Drain is only applied right after the first triggering of Bladed Armor for the first and the rest of the 6 will have 55 HP for each, while without doing anything but dying at the 7th , has passively dealt 357 Physical Damage which is about 8% of 's Max HP. from regaining any
In Immortality or a Brute Force Breastplate to reduce any of the reflected damage or, increase her Physical Lifesteal to atleast 45% or more to counteract the Bladed Armor's reflected Physical Damage, or buy Oracle to increase the healing from her Physical Lifesteal. Although the latter choices are unlikely to be done as Marksmen having too much Physical Lifesteal will make them have little to no Critical Damage, Physical Damage, and Attack Speed. While Oracle wouldn't do any good but increase the heal recieved, which could have been an Attack Speed or Critical Damage item instead.
's case, she can increase her Physical Defense by buying atleast anPhysical Penetration by buying a Malefic Roar to re-counter any Physical Defense as it can also help Blade Armor's reflect as it does Physical Damage. And if ever decided to increase her Physical Penetration, she won't be taking more reflected Physical Damage but still not be able to heal any HP:
on the hand can just increase her- Lets say HP but due to Life Drain only heals for 92 HP but still takes a reflected 114 Physical Damage. Although can die much much faster, is still unable to heal while can just Physical Lifesteal her lost HP back. now only has 15 Physical Defense but still has Blade Armor and Sea Halberd. now deals 616 Physical Damage which is previously 371 Physical Damage, and now is healed for 184
- The above experiment may have shown that the HP healed by is higher than before, but this is only because has her Physical Defense removed, and if calculated game-realistically, she would have about 150 Physical Defense due to base 60 Physical Defense and Blade Armor's 90 Physical Defense. Even with a Malefic Roar in hand, it would still result in about 87 Physical Defense or 43% Physical Damage Reduction, leaving to only deal 399 Physical Damage and heal for 119 HP without Life Drain in effect.

and can also be said the same when facing heroes like , , and .Wind of Nature users will be able to ignore this interaction for about 1 or 2 seconds, while their Physical Lifesteal or Magic Lifesteal will be halved, as they won't be affected by Bladed Armor during Wind Chant.
Sea Halberd and Glowing Wand are the much prefered partner for Blade Armor for this interaction as Dominance Ice will not work against high mobility heroes who like to kite their targets, especially Marksmen like and . Although chase heroes can utilize Dominance Ice as well.

Blade Armor may not be able to reduce Magic Damage taken from like 's . They are still considered , and will activate Bladed Armor, which will reflect 25% or 1/4 of the pre-reduction damage taken as Physical Damage back to the attacker while also slowing their movement speed by 15% for 1s.
Blade Armor's Bladed Armor can also trigger universal-damage effects like Genius Wand's Magic or Healing Reduction from Sea Halberd and Glowing Wand, but cannot trigger skill and ATK effects like Ice Queen Wand's Ice Bound or Demon Hunter Sword's Devour, because it can only be activated by skill or basic damage and not by item damage.
