They can both fight, tank and level up quickly by killing Siege Minions that offer extra EXP.
In the early game, they can make a great contribution in scrambling for the first Turtle.
There are currently 37 Heroes that are recommended to be a EXP Laner.
Meta Heroes[]
It is recommended that you practice each EXP lane hero at least once, so that you know enemy skill types, cooldowns, and learn matchups and recommended skill builds for different heroes. An EXP laner will determine the initial direction of a match.
These heroes are currently meta and will dominate the lane (most of the time as shown in tournaments) if you mastered them:
These heroes are good for solo queue and easy to master:
If you are going EXP lane, it is better to buy the Dagger than the Boots for higher physical damage in the early game as your abilities will mostly use Physical Attack to calculate damage. If you are a sustain hero like Thamuz, replace Dagger with Leather Jerkin or Magic Resist Cloak (depends on Defense type)

- The EXP lane Crab will grant you EXP equal to a Siege Minion if you kill it, try to slay it if possible. However if you can secure kills or being too far behind, one or two crabs will not do much help.
- It is also advised to let your midlaner or jungler the crab.
Categories[]
EXP laners are divided into three types:
- Utility EXP: heroes who have high durability and great crowd control skills to provide for their team, they either have high or low damage. Tanks, Tank-Fighter Hybrids and Fighters with a combination of AoE and Crowd Control are included in this category.
- Hybrid EXP: heroes who can deal damage and have certain degree of sustainability.
- Damage EXP: heroes who are squishy, and mainly deal damage in teamfight
Ban/Pick Phase[]
It is advised to pick EXP laner after enemy's pick, so that you are guaranteed at least a draw in lane.
Rotation Tips[]
Minions in EXP lane will give 25% more EXP than other lanes in the first 5 minutes. Try to reach level 4 as soon as possible before the first Turtle, as it will certainly spawn next to EXP lane.
Gameplay[]
First 2 minutes[]
Some heroes can perform lane cutting, but it is advised to avoid dying, so that your teammates do not have to divide focus on EXP lane early on.
Before the first Turtle, your midlaner might come and you may want to share the fourth minion wave with them, as the 25% exp bonus means both of you will reach level 4 and have ultimates available for contesting turtle. If you are already at level 4, give up the minions for the midlaner.
2-5 minutes[]
After clearing your lane, you can rotate to midlane to help midlaner clear minions, as they are already at level 4, and are often absent to help goldlaner. Try not to die before each turtle contest while avoiding letting minions destroy your lane turret. Always update on enemy's position and equipments to avoid being ganked or dominated.
5 minutes onward[]
It is advised to give up your lane for the jungler, so that they can get extra farm and experience, while you join midlaner in teamfight and pushing.
Trivia[]
Not all fighters must go to EXP lane, sometimes mages can be put into EXP lane for the first 2 minutes to secure their ultimate due to their low mobility and being squishy, but has good wave clear ability.
